The year is 1998. 
Nicholas Peter is a 27-year old scientist and psychologist at the Apex Lab in Ownslock. He's currently studying funguses and different kinds of plants. 

He took his casual morning walk by the Shelby River when he spotted something. It was a purple plant. He had never seen anything like it before. That's why he decided to quickly run home, grab a can and  some gloves, then run back to pick up a piece of the plant.

He decides to bring it to work, to show his boss. That's when things takes a horrible turn...
