Lathlynn is a sad girl who is very well aware that she is sad. Despite her explicit knowledge, she can't quite see how to stop being sad. She wants to, but it's a lot harder than it looks. The tall boy with bright teeth wants her to be happy probably more than she does. He's not the reason she gets better but he is a part of what gave her a reason.
