A young girl, born into a military family, makes a life-changing move from a small village in Okinawa, called Tomi Village, to California. In her new surroundings, she encounters a nerdy boy who is completely clueless when it comes to flirting. As she navigates the challenges of dealing with karate gangs and conflicting interests, she gradually discovers that perhaps California isn't as terrible as she initially thought.
