As the spare heir to the kingdom of Thegalla, Lauden Erynore's life comes with certain obligations. The minute she steps foot into Zegon, Lauden lands firmly in the sights of the kerei legion's deadliest soldier. Lieutenant Drace Darkmore, second bond to Zegon's king, is on a mission to kill any Thegallan that stumbles into his path. Something Lauden does quite literally and all too frequently.

Plus, those secrets that could tear apart her country explode out of her - killing dozens in the process. But they are not the only secrets to spill. The more Lauden learns about the shadowed world of the kerei, the more she realises that the truth she grew up on might not be the only one.

And the first truth she'll have to learn is that everyone has a little fyre inside them.
