Looking down those narrow hallways, Edith finally understood that she would never be as good as a man.

Because soon enough, everyone would know that she's so much better.

~~~
Edith was no ordinary girl. Not in appearance, but in her defiance and her constant rejection of Society's rules.
Girls couldn't write, they said, but she did. A girl could not make political decisions, they said, but she did. A girl could not be smart, they said, but she was. And most importantly, a girl most certainly could not be anywhere near as important as a man, they said, but she was.
She had heard all her life that she'd never be as good as a man from so many people, but her beloved father and her deceased mother, Aggie, had taught her better than to believe pointless words by men.
Swept up in the debutante balls and men's eyes on her, she was still determined to reach her goals. To get her education and become a magazine editor or a book author-but she never ever thought she would be accepted into one of the most prestigious schools. The University of London.
Being one of the few girls at the University, a lot of eyes were on her. A lot of boy's eyes were on her, but Edith knew better than to get swept up in romance. At least she knew better when it came to ordinary boys, but some boys just weren't ordinary.
