Howard and his wife Daisy, both retired and residing in a quiet suburban villa, lived an emotionally sparse life following the loss of their only son. The couple's pattern of a peaceful but monotonous life is disrupted when Daisy, delusional due to a medical condition, identifies a young waiter, Luke, as their deceased son during one of their restaurant visits. Taking advantage of this, Howard hires Luke to pretend to be their son and visit them weekly for which he provides additional compensation.
