Toby has always been Billie's best friend. Even when they first met in choir at eleven years old, there was something different about Billie that they could never quite pin point.
Through Billie's rapid fame, and Toby's trial and error at being a small-time rockstar, there was a piece of them that never quite felt satisfied as friends, but losing each other was enough of a fear to prevent that from furthering, until the night of Toby's first concert in L.A.
