When Earth had been invaded in an instant, the powers that be selected very few individuals who would one day defend the Earth in the far future and become the Hope of Humanity. Their plan, however, hadn't taken into account a different kind of threat, where the rest of humanity had to fight to survive on their own without these so-called "Hope of Humanity." Instead, the last of humanity created tough fighting machines known as Nikkes, who were the ones who truly became humanity's hope. Humanity once stood on the top of the world. They ruled the planet with an iron grip. Their rise in technology, industry, engineering, and science were quickly growing. However, an invasion on a worldwide scale had occurred in late 2023. Though there were initial successes in repelling these unknown, mechanical entities. They would eventually start to gain ground through quick adoption of newer variants of their beings and adjusting to counter common military tactics. However, more was needed, so came the introduction of Nikkes, an experimental female soldier that would be the first cybernetic frontline soldier. Even though there were attempts of converting males to such a task, they would become unsuccessful, as it was found out that males were more susceptible to cognitive dissonance and suicide. And so, females ranging from 18 to 30 years of age would remain the main source of Nikkes. As the war raged on, more variants of Nikkes would reinforce or replace the quickly diminishing forces of the world. There would be a significant breakthrough in the Nikkes, with the introduction of the Grimm models of Nikkes. Five Nikkes would be produced by a now defunct company. This squad would be called Goddess. They would be commanded by a special forces Captain Nicholas Miller, and through their first missions, they would further prove the effectiveness of specialized Nikkes and even push the Raptures back some. However, even their efforts would not be enough to stop the tithe of Raptures from encompassing Europe. After many years of fighting, there was one last desperate defense of a structure known as the Ark. Unfortunately, humanity would end up underground where they would spend the next 5 centuries fighting the raptures in smaller scale battles, skirmishes, and special operations. But now a new threat surges, plunging humanity into near-extinction and driven underground. Will it be humanity's lethal protector? Or its Eradicator? All it knows, however, is that it will fight like hell. [Read this before continuing to story] This is a prequel to my other NIKKE book, which is currently in hiatus at the moment. The MC in this book will be introduced later into the main one very late in the future (it will not be in the next chapter as that is too soon). It will implement a bit of lore from Tower Defense X, but it will also contain some headcanons and alternative lore to match both Nikke and TDX timelines. And if you're wondering why I'm in a very much inactive state in Wattpad, I had been inexcusably grinding various games that I decided to drop Wattpad for a very long time. Tower Defense X is owned and developed by JOHN ROBLOX/GDILIVES and the TDX team. Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is owned and developed by Shift-up. Annililated by beings known as Raptures. All over the world, they slowly pushed us back until there was nowhere else to go. Nowhere else but underground. And so, as a final safe haven, the Ark was created. An underground utopia, built to support millions, was created. All was well.
