India's medical education system has grappled with persistent challenges for decades, encompassing issues such as the disconnection between education and healthcare delivery, high educational costs, underutilization of existing resources, and a plethora of entrance examinations for medical seats. Globally, there has been a concerted effort to enhance the doctor-to-population ratio to ensure improved accessibility to healthcare services.

In 2023, a staggering 21 lakh students collectively participated in India's prestigious Medical Entrance Exam, NEET-UG, vying for a coveted MBBS seat across 706 government and private medical colleges. Over the past five years, both the government and private sectors have made strides by adding 185 medical colleges and 23,000 seats. However, despite these endeavors, the likelihood of securing an MBBS seat in India has diminished from 6.68% to 5.29% during this period. This decline is attributed to the burgeoning number of NEET UG aspirants and the gradual evolution of medical education infrastructure, which struggles to keep pace with the escalating demand for MBBS seats.
