Maizie Reck is twenty-two years old and was born an immortal zombie. She loves all things pink and fluffy teddy bears. But there's a major burden in her life.
Due to both groups having infectious bites, a vast battle breaks out between the zombies and vampires. The ghouls are equitable, but are staying away from the issue.
Although Maizie will do anything to protect her community, she is no warrior.
Instead of fighting, she decides to take on the challenge of befriending Vrena, a vampire who wants nothing to do with her, or peace.
During their one-sided friendship, they enlist help from a singular ghoul, Carasein, who takes pity on them and their situation.
To an outsider, everything seems to be going fine. In reality, Carasein is the only thing keeping Vrena's dagger from slicing Maizie's head off.
Will Carasein ever help them find the cure to solve the war? Or will they end up helping each other explore something else?
