Dr. Eggman decided to create a lifeform that has a memory of Shadow but in fact, a cyborg. No feelings nor love. So Sonic will try to convince Shadow back to his supposed to be but at the same time, will try to destroy everything that sonic has under the control of Dr. Eggman.
