Kate loves horses. She dreams about them. She thinks about them. She's got to have them. She'd be lost without them.
Kate rides twice a week at Silver Shingles Equestrian center. There she rides different horses of all shapes and sizes. But of them all her favorite is Drummer.
When a tragic car accident causes Drummer to lose his life, Kate swears to never ride again.
Then she meets Hope. The horse was rescued from slaughter and is horrible and mean to everyone, and every horse.
No one at the rescue center can get near Hope, but Kate feels there is something about Hope. She's somehow different.
Later on, Hope proves her right.
