Thousands of years ago the elements destroyed anything and everything in their path. The earth cracked, lava flowed, and storm after relentless storm beat civilisation into hiding. Then came a group who beat the forces of nature into submission, and so humanity came out of hiding. The protective shields sheltered life and allowed it to grow. For generations people lived like this, their only struggles now being self inflicted.
