In the demise of relinquishing

Alec has always been calm. She doesn't seem into bickering or dwelling on matters that could bring her more anguish, so she always acts as if all is acceptable, although she has been weeping discreetly over it at night. She wasn't ever cheerful, yet when she came across those whose existence subsequently alleviated her agony, she had the courage to venture out of her "safe" zone. Would she have the endurance to survive this squandering and make it to her threshold of relinquishing?
