Each person designated little has their first drop on their 16th birthday. There, they are taken to a centre run by the government where they remain until they are matched with their caregiver/caregivers. Brielle, a young girl with a diagnosis of youth lock syndrome is brought to the centre just weeks after her first drop. She's timid, quiet, and no amount of coaxing from anyone brings her out of her shell. Introducing Scarlett, the caregiver she's matched with. Brielle was instantly taken with Scarlett despite her shy demeanour, and it doesn't take long for the woman to fall in love with her too.
