TLDR: Valerie Castillo is the older sister to Violetta Castillo ( an OC i added ). she being a year and half older, has more memories with their mother, who died when Violetta was 5 and she was about to turn seven, and because of this she took up her mother's career in singing, wanting to become just like her.

though after the incident, their father quickly became overbearing, sheltering them from the world and moving them around as if they were in witness protection. ( they aren't )
