Isabel is a young princess shouldered with new, hefty responsibilities, and they are weighing on her. When her father assigns a bodyguard to keep an eye on her, she reaches a breaking point of frustration. Tasked with painful public appearances, council meetings she isn't allowed to participate in, and the weight of title on her shoulders, she feels controlled and trapped, with no outlet.
But all that begins to change when she discovers her new bodyguard, a shy and serious man with a sharp eye, has more to him than he lets on. The frustrated Isabel risks everything, seeing how far she can push the boundaries to secretly explore a side of her she never allowed before with this man, her protector.
This is a spicy romance novella set in a fantasy/historical (castle) setting. It was inspired by an unhinged dream I had.
