12-year-old Brooklyn Cai was anything but a normal kid. Even then, she was anything but a normal demigod. For the past two years, she had been the only living child of Poseidon-living proof of an oath her father took. For all her life she has been paying for the crimes her parents committed. Just when Brooklyn starts to find her footing, a new kid with the same green eyes as her, arrives at camp and turns her whole world on its side. Sixteen-year-old Cassiopeia Monroe just wants a full night's sleep. Cass doesn't have time to process. She grabs a broken chair, turns it into a makeshift wooden dagger, and does the only thing she can-fight back. Somehow, she survives. The creature turns to ash, the air hums with power.
