Paula Luise or Pauline, a 21 year old German novelist, was poisoned by her fiancee's girlfriend, 29 year old Maisie Kyle, an English entrepreneur on the 7th of July. On the same city lies the very short family of the " Vermont wealthy like " Russian English Aeronautical engineer, Ivan Arthurovich and his 15 year old illegitimate daughter, Hanneli Wright, who was born in a past affair. Even though he is 37, he is instantly charmed and captivated by Pauline's youth and falls in love with her. Pauline, fortunately was interested too, and started getting to know Ivan a little more, until that's when she speculates Hanneli's interest towards her identity, which increases her curiosity to find about both Hanneli and Ivan's identity.
