Tala, a young woman, discovers that her father owes a stranger a mysterious debt of service. Her father must once again take up his sword and undertake whatever task the stranger has commanded of him. The only problem is that her father has gotten a bit lame and isn't able to move as well as he could before. Fearing for his safety, Tala decides to take her father's place and answer the call of service that was given to him. However, upon meeting with the stranger, she discovers that he is no ordinary person. He isn't even a human, but in fact an animal spirit named Indra. Some years back, Tala's father had done something to fall under the service of this spirit. Having taken his place, Tala is now tasked with a quest that may seem well beyond her ability and means. To aid her in her quest, she is given a ring only she can use. This ring holds the animal spirit's knowledge and wisdom in case she is need of guidance. Unfortunately, it will take more than knowledge and wisdom to tackle such a quest. Having zero background in fighting or travelling, Tala goes to the king and poses as chosen one who was prophesized to bring glory to the kingdom. From there, she employs warriors with names and titles that have been recognized throughout the kingdom. Will she be able to carry out her father's task, while also keep up this charade as a heroine?
