Sammy was always a unique girl, who dressed like boys and was quite silly and funny. Despite her fun and friendly personality, she was uneasy with her surroundings, and felt uncomfortable in her own home. Her two brothers were not all supportive, with the older one having an affair with her best friend's cousin and the younger one constantly ratting her out to their parents. Sammy's mother was unemotional and unsupportive, only wanting her to focus on her studies, and her father was a kind but distant figure.
