 Excerpt:

Dorothy tongued the back of her teeth, as if prodding her mouth to form a reply. Nothing came. Another brisk breeze passed over the fields, crumbling the stalks of golden wheat. The driver broke the silence as he cleared his throat.

"You know, priest, I could turn around and tell them I refused to drive you," he offered.

Dorothy remained silent.

"After the Onyx Order fell there's, well," he grunted to clear his throat. "If the Onyx Order couldn't save a grand city, what hope is there for a writer?" His soft eyes flickered away from the road to see the young woman's flat face. When she remained non-responsive, he continued, "you know, we could do with a good writer in my city. Lots of folks need a good story to take away their fears."

Geovanni Have you ever gotten that feeling that somebody was watching you? And that person who was watching you wasn't normal. I have felt that way all of my life; but then again I felt as if I went missing nobody would even notice or care I was gone. I am 23 and just graduated from college. I was there an extra year because I had to take care of my family. I had to transfer back into the city and pick up the extra work because my mom died, and my dad became addicted to anything that would numb his pain. My little sister and brother would be lost without me here. But now I could care less. A cold breeze blew through my window waking me up from my thoughts. I looked over in the corner and saw that nothing was there. It was odd because I felt like someone well more like something was there. It had to be my imagination getting the best of me. I laid back in my bed and closed my eyes. Then all of a sudden I got the feeling I wasn't alone. But the really strange thing is that even if there was someone in here with me I felt safe. Jordan. I watched her as she slept. In fact I have been watching her since she was born. I have waited half a century to find that one person. I think I have finally settled on her. She was my choice. I know. After being in as many relationships as I have you know things. I felt my fangs tingle. Her blood smelled so sweet. Her heartbeat was steady and strong. I took my tongue and ran it across my fang. The temptation to indulge in her red liquid was far too strong. I let out a low growl and jumped out her window. I was ready for a hunt. "Did you see her Jordan?" "Yes, and tomorrow night you will turn her," "Why do I have to turn her?" "Ezra, you know once you turn them, they hate you," "I didn't hate pops," "You wanted to join though," "True, but first see if she wants to be turn before you jump to conclusions," I nodded my head, before me and Ezra took off to find some fresh blood for the night.

'Then,' she hesitated for only a moment, 'I'll never be a wife still yet yours!' she promised him. 'Say that again,' he told her in a hard angry voice, 'and face the rowen,' he dared her. Despite the threat, she climbed out of bed and went to him. She tilted her head to look challengingly at him with her sharp green tear stained eyes. 'I will never be a wife much less yours,' she repeated in a terminal raspy but rather confident voice. He stared at her for a long time, internally simmering. The tension in the bedroom thickened greatly. Silence reigned as their stare down intensified. All in the room stood in trepidation, awaiting his eppy. 'Everyone,' he ordered in a calm yet jussive voice that betrayed the extremity of his anger. 'Out!' he finished. They all festinated out, skedaddling away as quickly as they could before anyone of them suffered from transfer of aggression. And when the door closed with a small click sound behind them, he drew her to him unexpectedly. 'You are mine,' he simply told her with surety before he lipped her. --- 🌫 She knew nothing, except that she wanted out, away from him-the beast. The bright ball of blue, green, gold and white twinkled with radiant glimmers along its surface. Suspended in the void of pure darkness, pitched against the twinkle of faint silver stars, the it was almost beautiful from this distance. Ages ago, Turivel had visited this world and the scars it left on her never faded. Pains in her chest threatened to destroy her calm composed face. "You don't have to go, I can do this alone," said a male voice, cutting through her thoughts. Turivel blinked, bringing herself back to the present. Her steely eyes turned to look at him, her lips curled in a half smile, "Do you really think I am foolish enough to trust you with something this important?" He crossed his arms. The pair stood suspended in the void of space not far from the planet before them. Against the darkness behind him the man's face had twisted into a disapproving scowl, "I know you call me the Evangelist for a reason. And I know that you will pay me for my trouble," his dark brown hair curled around him in the void, covering half his face and his dark eyes, "And that is enough for me. But most importantly, I know that your head is too clouded by this planet for you to act clearly down there." Turivel sighed, relenting, "Alright, go. Bring her back. But be careful, be subtle. And remember the importance of who you bring to me." "I always do," he said over his shoulder. A blue circle of light appeared around the edges of his shape and he slowly faded from existence. Turivel let her guard down, her shoulders slumped slightly now that she was alone. Wisps of her golden hair fell around her face as she allowed herself a moment to just feel the worry and stress of it all. All of life and death hung in the balance now, and all she could do was pray he made it.

He finally found the one. The one that he had given up on finding at such an early age, he finally found the person who could complete him. Now he just had to make sure he could keep her safe. He had found her in the worst possible place: right in the middle of a case. "By the way," his partner pulled him out of his thoughts. He surprised him by giving him a mischievous smirk. "That growl? 10/10 in my book. Very spooky. 9/10 on Rotten Tomatoes for Plot and Suspense. Of course, one point was taken away for doing it near humans, a woman, nonetheless. But, other than that, loved it." He had to take a deep breath for that. He stopped walking and glared at the man. "You know," he started. "One of these days you're going to wind up dead because of that mouth." "From you?" "Possibly." "Good," that smirk never left his face. "You have no idea how annoying it is being immortal." "Can't be worse than being friends with one," he rolled his eyes and continued his walk. As much as he was excited to find his love, he couldn't help but be concerned for the woman. She was a gypsy without a past or a family. And it seemed like there was more than just him looking for her. But who was it? And why? Why was she trapped in that glass? It was a destiny trapped in glass. And now he had to figure out where it was leading him. * A mystery romance with a supernatural twist!
