Klovis and Livia seek refuge back in the human realm after Zhier manages to drive them away and gravely injuring Klovis. They stay with Kvahein, the late fairy King of the fairy realm and also Livia's distant fairy relative. Through the help of the sap, she managed to awaken her inherent magic, which Kvahein is teaching her how to use. However, trouble brews back in the fairy realm, where they were forced to return earlier than they anticipated.
