Bi-Metallic Lugs

Bi-metallic lugs are electrical connectors that are constructed using two different metals. These lugs typically consist of a combination of aluminum and copper materials. The purpose of using two different metals is to take advantage of the beneficial properties of each metal. Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and is often preferred for its high conductivity. However, copper can be relatively expensive, so in certain applications where cost considerations are important, aluminum may be used as a more economical alternative. While aluminum is not as conductive as copper, it is lighter and less expensive.
