two people, asher and ophelia, within their home kingdom were lucky enough to be the royal guards to the king and queen's castle in eldermist kingdom, and they've been best friends since children. they're now both 20 and 22, and in the midst of an oncoming issue with everforge kingdom, but problems within their own kingdom arise throughout this clash.
asher, a 6'2, 20 year old man, seems like an ordinary person but actually had magic in his blood that consisted of fire and ice, making asher one of the few in the kingdom with magical powers like his, which led to his position in the castle as a royal guard, and he was quite proud of this role.
ophelia, a 5'6, 22 year old woman, is a mix of a shapeshifter and a fairy, which was quite common to be a fairy in the eldermist kingdom, but a shapeshifter with enhanced hearing was quite rare, and so she also ended up a royal guard, which was quite uncommon for women to be working for royalty, so she was grateful for this and didn't want to mess up this opportunity no matter what.

Prompt #52: Legend says only he who was fit to rule England could pull the sword from the stone. But the only one who manages to do so is a she. AUTHOR'S NOTE: I tweaked the prompt a teeny bit. I changed England to a fictional island called Moneres Islands and adjusted the setting from historical to present day (without the COVID vibes). According to ancient legend on the Moneres Islands, "He who is fit to rule could pull the sword from the stone." The Kingdom of Ru'aun was rich and plentifully, if you were lucky enough to live in the inner city, Falcon Claw. Outside of those walls was where the poor stayed poor and poverty stayed brutally common. There were 11 closely built towns, but the 3 biggest were O'khasis, Scaleswind, and the Neapolitan villages. That was not where Aphmau was. She was born and raised in a small village far to the east called Phoenix Drop. She was thrown into guard training by her parents at the age of 12 to give her an opportunity in life. After 6 years of intense, tiring combat training and schooling, she'd been chosen to move to the castle as a guard. Of course, she wasn't expecting to be guarding the Crowned Prince of the Falcon Claw Castle. If she had the chance to go back to that day, she'd take that chance and run for the hills while she still could. 19 year old Prince Aaron, wanted absolutely nothing to do with her. He didn't want to be watched over, he didn't want to be guarded, he just wanted to be left alone for once in his life. With his luck, that was impossible. He never wanted the crown. He was intelligent enough to rule and he acknowledged that but he always wished he could just be free of his binding curse. *FINISHED!* (just edits being made now) -11/23/25 I decided to unpublished every chapter except the ones that are updated, I have been working to edit at least 1 chapter every day, don't know how long that will last, but I've been doing it for 3 days now -2/25/26 Aspen has lived in the castle her entire life but that changes on her sister's 16th birthday when she meets Jay and Gabe. Gabe can be kinda annoying and Jay doesn't talk much, but for Aspen's first friends they are perfect. When Jay reveals a scheme that changes Aspen's life forever, they help her escape the castle. They are now on a mission: to stop her sister, and save the kingdom. What she is planning, not even Aspen knows. I would also like to credit my friend who helped me write this.
