On what seems like a routine call out to a house fire, Stella saves Ellie, a teenage girl trapped inside the house. When the cause of the fire is found and CPD's intelligence unit gets involved, Stella learns the history of the girl she rescued. Stella connects with Ellie after discovering her past is similar to her own, and decides she wants to help her through her traumatic past and be there for her, because no-one was there when she went through it herself, but not everything runs as smoothly as they wish it could, and it pushes all aspects of their lives to the limit, but with Severide by her side all the way, and the help of the
