Celle-ci se révèle être empoisonnée, et l'unique espoir de  guérir Legolas se trouve en Doriath, un lieu lointain où un peuple guérisseur perdu aurait le pouvoir de contrer le mal qui le ronge. 
Aragorn, prêt à tout pour sauver son ami, va entreprendre un voyage périlleux aux côtés de l'Elfe blessé et tout faire pour le mener  à temps au mystérieux peuple guérisseur.
