A boarding school in France is taking in students who can play instruments. They are gifted small creature known as Clefs. The school is Top Secret and is a fighting force against aliens from a void. Every clef uses their own clef, as a weapon. They will later train and discover more abilities of their power. The first clef introduced is Essab, or just Ess/S for short.
(Essab is backwards for basse, the French word for Bass, hence the Bass Clef in his hand)
