Rowena Ravenclaw was a very powerful seer. She gave a prophecy about Harry, and saw his potential futures. The Founders used a very powerful spell to travel to his time for the day that he was born, appearing in Potter Manor. They informed Harry's parents and grandparents about the prophecy and potential futures. They then blessed Harry with an ability each.
