Peppermint and cherry. That's what we are. That's what we've always been. You made me see through cherry filtered lenses, like summertime that I never wanted to end. Never-ending butterflies fluttered their way through my stomach, warm laughter filled the air. Then, just like the harshness of winter, everything was engulfed in the coldness of peppermint. My stomach was left with bile from wanting to throw up your name, frigid emptiness coated the air. You were gone, and so was the filter you'd forced me to see through. I saw the world for what it was: merciless, cruel, out of love. Peppermint and cherry. That's what we are.
