The Poem of Us

Soraya Khalid is a 22-year-old college senior, just one semester away from graduating and becoming a teacher. When her professor, enters her for a poetry competition with the grand prize of a $400 Barnes & Noble gift card, she convinces herself that a stranger reading her poem is no big deal.

Best-case scenario: A stranger reads her poem, and she gets a nice stack of books in return. But there's just one tiny problem-- Open vulnerability isn't exactly Soraya's thing, especially when her crippling anxiety has anything to say about it.

So when Soraya is shocked to find out she won the competition, along with her long awaited gift card, came a surprise: a response poem to her own.

Zahid is everything Soraya is not. Cold, distant, and emotionally closed off. As the oldest son, his responsibilities come first, and wearing a tough exterior that keeps everyone at arm's length. Life hasn't exactly been kind to him, and the last thing he's interested in is opening up to anyone, especially a bubbly, optimist like Soraya.

But something about her words-vulnerable and raw-stirs something inside him he's long tried to bury. His feelings transformed into a poem of its own. Desperate, yet still afraid to be heard, he anonymously writes a response poem to hers. Surely, there's no harm in a stranger knowing his deepest pain.

While these two took comfort in knowing that they're merely strangers who read each others' poems, qadr (fate) had other plans. What will happen when these "strangers" keep running into each other, and eventually gain feelings?

Will their personal heartaches get in the way of their happiness together? Or will they part ways as strangers once more?
