Sometimes you can travel has as far as you planned and arrive where you were needed all along.

At one moment past midnight on the 1st of August, one million monkeys cleared the monkey sleep from the corners of their eyes and began to work. All at once, they start pounding on the keys of their old-fashioned typewriters. They would keep type type typing until one moment past noon on the 16th of August. Then they would lean back in their comfortable chairs, sigh simultaneously, flex their stiff muscles, and wait. The last three words that scrolled out of their old-fashioned typewriters were:

Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be a powerful culture. This place is not a place of honor... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here. What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger. The danger is in a particular location... it increases towards a center... the center of danger is here... of a particular size and shape, and below us. The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours. The danger is to the body, and it can kill. The form of the danger is an emanation of energy. The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

Well north of Baltimore, a group stray cats calls out to the youngest Quisling daughter. The cats are the last survivors of a town that was flooded to make way for a dam that gave water and life to the once great city. Do you hear them? Do you? On that same morning, the Quislings of Baltimore are preparing for a funeral. John Quisling, his wife Mary, and their three surviving daughters reflect on what outfits to wear, whether veils are appropriate, which type of flower expresses grief better than all others, and whether brown shoes can be polished black to reflect the somberness of the occasion. Each has a To Do List to keep the day moving forward. Each checks-off tasks as they are completed. Throughout their lives, the Quislings of Baltimore had ordinary jobs, yielding ordinary means, and they lived in ordinary times. The only extraordinary aspect of their story was the odd coincidence that nearly every event of any importance in their lives occurred in the month of May - the month of false hope. May I? Maybe. May not.

Certainly they could trust that those in power ultimately had the best interests of the people in mind, right? ~~~ Luna slouched low in her seat, staring at droplets of water that ran diagonally down the window of the bus. The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. Idiots.

The Days With No Sun by hello-no-one

Sometimes we fear truth over reality. But things get dark and heavy and we play the blame game. We end up hurting others or ourselves even. We don't think before we act or we don't say before we do. This is the evolution of my madness. A cluster of rants and thoughts and poems for you guys. Everything is written how I wanted it to be rants will be long with few pauses and there will be mistakes I might have skipped over. Aha. Poems at the beginning from when I was 15 years old to now when Im 18. Truly a visual of my writing evolution. Edited by @ChemicalStarling who writes a lot but never posts! Read on, loves. It is the morning before the summer solstice and Charon Juet's life is ruined. Or anyway, that's what her mother has just told her. The following day is Charon's 40th birthday and there is nothing to celebrate. Born on a momentous day in the history of Mars, Pennsylvania, Charon Juet was expected to live a charmed life. Instead, she pours coffee, flips pancakes, and fends off unwanted compliments from the patrons of the only diner in Mars. With little to lose, Charon asks a stranger to come home with her. At the doorstep, Charon is stopped by a small lie she told earlier in the day. It was the kind of lie we tell strangers all the time. Or maybe it was mostly a lie, but (also) partly the truth. Regardless, it was truly truly absolutely the worst timing ever.

02 February - the memorable and the forgetten by tuoheight

On an unusually warm February morning, one million monkeys sit down in front of one million old fashioned typewriters and begin typing randomly. By chance, they create one perfect sentence that draws together four women from four different parts of Baltimore. It is the once in a generation month of the Lover's Moon - the month when the 28 days of February misalign completely with the phases of the moon. With no full moon rising throughout the month, those people who have failed to find love in their lives are able to see hope in the relative darkness of that rarest of all months. Instead, lies and hope collide and the plan for the day is disrupted when all one million monkeys become distracted by the sight of a premature spring emerging on the warmest February day in Baltimore history. As a result, love eludes the four women. One gives up. Two get bored. And one dies as her son evaporates into the ether that separates the memorable from the forgotten.

If you're like me, you probably wonder where all the good bowling stories have been hiding. You imagine all those dramatic moments where the pins are impossibly far apart, and it seems that no god or human could ever knock them all over at once. And yet, we are both romantics, you and I. We hold onto the belief that if we think hard enough and dream deeply enough, every pin will fall. That is our personal (bowling) fairy tale. While it may be impossible, it is good enough for us. Good enough to bring faith to the faithless, hope to the hopeless, and charity to the forgotten.
