Skylar Pilot is the daughter of Royal Naval Captain Joseph Pilot. At the tender age of six Skylar's mother unexpectedly dies, leaving her father no choice but to place her in a boarding school. The school, run by a cruel head master, and an apathetic head mistress is not the quality education Skylar's father is paying for. After six years of abuse Skylar is breaking out of school, but the world outside is New Orleans. Vampires, voodoo, monsters and myth await on the other side of the gates and Skylar is only twelve years old. Perhaps she should have stayed in school.
