Originally a member of the Occult Research Club for a year without knowing the truth, he got killed at the same time as Issei, at the Fallens hands. 

Later on he was saved, found himself intact instead of the usual reincarnation process made by Devils. It was a mystery how, but instead of continuing his "normal" life he decides to write journal about his weird encounter
