Stella never believed in physical time traveling. And she never will. She believes time travel is in the mind. When she's in the car and in the midst of her own form of time travel, she doesn't notice the oncoming car and crashes. When she wakes up, she notices she isn't outside of her memories. She knows her body is stuck in a coma, and she can't get out.
