Her friend, Shaunice has been been her best friend since elementary school. Alicia is hopeless in connected to Maurice, her boyfriend for at least a year.

Shaunice can't stand Maurice and she doesn't hesitate in letting him know. Maurice has convinced Alicia that she needs him as a manager in order to break into the music industry.  And one day he actually comes through in helping Alicia gain an audition with Chicago's Finest Entertainment Group (CFE) with Marcus Harper and Franklin Studdard. 

Everything seems great until Shaunice finds out that Maurice is hooking up with women at Alicia's shows!   Shaunice is on a mission to open Alicia's eyes to Maurice antics and get her away from him.  Alicia attachment is unwavering, until she meets Suave Rob - a new rapper/singer that recently signed with CFE. 

Suave Rob is instantly attracted to Alicia and decides to show her how to trust again and what it feels like when someone really cares for her.  Maurice doesn't like being kicked out of Alicia's life and so easily replaced to the point he decides he needs to take matter in his own hands to show Alicia that it's not easy to just leave him behind.
