Dakota Smith didn't return home after the death of her best friend, her soulmate, the woman who'd made her an aunt before being taken from the world far too early.  Not because she didn't want to - she wanted to be there for Juliette, to visit and tend to Eden's grave, but she'd been sent away with the threat of NEVER being allowed back into Juliette's life if she didn't step away.  So, against Eden's dying wishes, she left.

Two years later, she returned and while visiting Eden's grave she was greeted with the shell of her formally loving and vibrant niece - the ghost of the girl who carried the last living pieces of Eden Smith.
