A lone astronaut, Luciano Gonzales, finds himself stuck on the moon - with no resources left to guide him back to Earth.
Slowly losing his sanity, Luciano goes on to venture the mysterious landscape to learn what he's really dealing with.
As time literally flies by, his mind gradually breaks down on him - ending in him developing schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder.
Near the ending of his story, it's prominent that he's slowly losing his grip on reality. Isolation and being left behind is getting more into his head, and the large shadows and hallucinations his brain fills into the air is the only comfort he can get.
And then, finally, at the last part...
He knows that no one will ever come for him now. The world, in unison, all shifted into the new year.
The visions are all closing in, and he finds them to be a threat - so he attempts to deal with it himself...
