The Forsaken Island, Book One in the Regni Chronicles

"We're almost at our camp now, Burgus is its name. I want to prepare you for some of the things there."
"Like what?" I asked, curiosity rising. We stopped walking as the others disappeared from view.
Rozene turned to face me, avoiding my eyes. "Well, this island isn't what you think it is. There are secrets here you cannot even begin to fathom."
"What could I possibly not figure out about this island? It seems pretty straightforward to me."
"This island is not like anything you've ever encountered," Rozene continued as if I hadn't spoken. "This is a land of mystery and magic. And you're just about to find out how dangerous it really is."

Dakota was about to turn seventeen when her family disappeared. They left in hurry one night, telling Dakota nothing and promising they'd be home soon. But that was six months ago. They still haven't returned, and she's getting desperate. She hopes aboard a might schooner to escape, but the ship wrecks. Dakota and two of her friends are swept to a mysterious island. There, they meet a group of locals that take them in. Dakota and her friends begin to realize something isn't quiet right about the island. They soon find themselves in a war between the two sides, locked in the middle. Along the way, Dakota finds allies and traitors, tragedy and romance. Filled with twists you didn't see coming, The Forsaken Island describes the character's journeys to find themselves, determine reality from fiction, and even save a world.

Author's Note: For all of you reading: this story is going to be very long, and extended periods of no updates will occur. But hang in there if you're determined to read this story I've been working on for a few years!
