Persephone has come to love Hades a lot since she was kidnapped and was made the Queen of the Underworld. Or so she believes...

This year, just like every year she goes to Earth for six months to visit her Mother. But unlike every year, something feels very different. 

It all starts with her bumping into a handsome human. Someone she finds extremely annoying but can't seem to let go of. The illusion of her perfectly systematic and happy life starts to fall apart when she discovers that the pomegranates she eats to be able to return to the underworld after six months are responsible for much more than just her return. They are responsible for making her "love" Hades.

With the knowledge that her feelings were manipulated, and her true soulmate, the handsome annoying human, is on earth, how will Persephone navigate her way forward with her newfound feelings for her soulmate? Will she find her freedom, or remain a captive of the underworld forever? And most importantly, with Hades on her trail, will she be able to save her true love, or will she lose him forever?

Hades and Persephone is a story that has so many different sides to it. Some people romanticize their relationship (often without taking into account certain aspects of the myth) while others insist that Hades was nothing but perverse and awful... even though taking Persephone, after having her father's permission, was quite normal for the time! This is a retelling of the ancient myth, with all the ancient components to it. I researched the story from many different sources and tried to make it as accurate as possible. The only writer's license was the amount of time she spent in the Underworld before Hermes came-- I never found an exact number, so I wrote it as six months, partly so that they had time to truly fall for each other, partly so that she would return to the mortal realm immediately after being returned to Demeter. Persephone is a character who understands the place goddesses and women have in the world, understands the normalcy of her capture, but still struggles with feeling like it's unjust. Hades is a god with few romantic relationships in his past (Leuce and Minthe) who hadn't fallen for anyone for a while and wasn't quite sure how to treat a goddess in a realm he never visited. This is the story.

This is a rewrite of my previous fan fiction "Tales of Hades and Persephone" as well as some inspiration from the original myth (and perhaps other retellings I enjoy). Hades has been alone for far too long. One day he pays a visit to Zeus and requests to marry Persephone. The King of the Gods agrees and even recommends Hades kidnap Persephone, since it's unlikely Demeter will agree to the marriage. Persephone is a young Goddess of Earth curious about the world of the mortals. She's always helping her mother Demeter, but one day while watching the mortals she wanders off only to fun into a handsome stranger. After a brief conversation, Persephone finds herself swept away to the Underworld. Will Hades manage to get Persephone to fall in love with him? What will Demeter do when she discovers her daughter is missing and it's all Zeus' fault? Will the mortals be able to survive the wrath of the Gods?
