Twenty nine year old fantasy writer Darlene Cloud doesn't understand why all her alpha readers are in love with the villain, King Malachi. When in fact, her readers should be in love with his brother, golden boy, Prince Nicholas. She's about to call it quits rewriting and rewriting that she kills King Malachi without so much as a second thought. The Man who Swallows Nightmares (and who is a living nightmare) is gone.

Her alpha readers are in an uproar that she goes back to the drawing board: her trusty, overworn leather notebook. The Kingdom of Thrive lore, background stories, and random thoughts are alive. But what happens when King Malachi can see her? He knows when she is there with him. And what if, he starts to fall in love with her -- the ghost?

Erik Torston is a simple hog farmer, the head of the family after his father and half brother answered a summons to war five years ago. When a new summons comes, he and his friends answer the call, leaving River Bend and the only home they've ever known. Erik is reluctantly forced into the world of soldiers and politics, questioning who he is as he navigates a secret family connection, a scheming Duke, and his attraction to the beautiful Lady Abigail. Circumstance takes him to the Capital, where royal secrets and a war threatens not only everything Erik has ever known, but his life as well. --- Lady Abigail wants nothing more than to go home to raise her uncle's infant daughter Mouse in the warmth of her family home while he grieves the loss of his wife in childbirth. She plans to head home when the army mustering for the King heads for the coast. That army includes Erik Torston, the handsome and somewhat mysterious new recruit. When the Duke arrives to inspect the troops, it starts a series of events that changes the plan for everyone at Berrigan Keep, thrusting Abigail and Mouse into the viper's nest of the royal court, where whispered scandals are currency, and nothing is what it seems... Including Erik Torston. --- Blood of Quartz is an alternate universe fantasy adventure story with hints of magic, secret royalty, and a slow burn love story. It is about finding your way when life turns out differently than you expect, family, and the ties that bind us all. Cover by Ren Tachibana @rentachi - https://www.rentachibanaworks.com/

The Disappearance of Valentina Moreno

28 parts Complete

On a crisp, fall morning, Valerie Rossi is stopped by a stranger, asking if she's Valentina Moreno--a child who went missing in Yosemite National Park twenty years ago. Curious, Valerie's friend Julian looks up the age progression photo recently shown in the news, and the uncanny resemblance is too much to ignore. Especially because of the reoccurring dream Valerie has of a shadow snatching her in the night. Suddenly, something doesn't feel right, so she digs for answers by turning to the one person she might not be able to trust: her father.
