On the run from his fate of misery, Cole finds a job on a ship. The job helps him to escape the plans of his father, but it puts him into a series of events that takes him far from the sheltered life he had been living. 
His one true wish is to find some place or someone that could make him feel both safe and free. He's unsure if such a thing even exists, but the ship and its captain soon starts to feel like it could come close to what he seeks. 
However, it turns out Cole is not the only one on the ship with a secret - and some things can't be outrun.

Nathaniel works at the marine research center for his uncle. When he finds the siren in a tank far too small to contain a wild creature, he knows that the merman isn't happy there. He's trying to figure out a way to free him. Little does he know, he's not exactly human, and his uncle is hiding a big secret that might change his life. What happens when they realize that they're uncovering something much bigger? ~~~~~ Contains foul language, some disturbing scenes ( experiments on the siren, violent deaths), mild violence, and a brief implication of suicide in one chapter. But Phoenix will soon find out there is more to himself, the captain, and this story, than it seems. - - - This is the first draft of my novel, which took about a year to write.
