||Book One in The King's Gambit|| -- NOT DISCONTINUED< just having a really long break>
||Set in The Fever Code||
It had started with him inhaling, the sound of a strange metal clicking before a low hum vibrated the metal floor below his back. His brown eyes fluttered open, taking in his surroundings, and the other 39 faces filled with shock and fear as the box began taking them up to an unknown destination. A place they would be calling home for the next two years.

For her, it had started with running, the sound of her own heaving breath nearly covering the sound of chasing feet behind her. A stroke of luck, a twist of fate, and she's swept away into a warm embrace. A family takes her under their wing, bringing her to a place where Cranks and the Flare would never reach her. A family and friends, something she never had before.
But the good things never last. The glue dried out, peeling back the lies that had been blinding her for so long. Her world, cracking, crumbling around her, and she's forced to run again.
Home. Home is where she had fled. And she ran to another safe haven, filled with the friends who have long since forgotten her under the memories that were stolen. A safe haven. A bigger prison cell, a test she had no answers to.
||All Rights go to James Dashner, except for the OCs and the changes I have made.||
"We are never getting out of here are we," I said to my best friend without the slightest bit of hope.
"Come on, Teddy. Don't think like that," he says trying to reassure me. I notice him fidgeting with his hands, knowing I'm probably right.
We are both standing on the Watch tower, leaning over the railing. I look across the Glade. I study the people and my surroundings.
I remember when I first met Newt. Two young kids finding their way out of the Maze. We protected each other at all costs. We still do. We are all each other has.

Teddy has been trapped in the Glade for about three years. She was the third person to come up in the box with pure confusion and fear. Sometimes though, she wonders about what life outside the Maze is like, what their lives could be like. Even though the Glade is the only home Teddy and her fellow Gladers have ever known, she wants to leave. She wants answers. She wants to know the life she can't remember living. They've seemed to have tried everything, and loosing her friends is her worst nightmare. But when the opportunity is open to leave, thanks to Thomas, will they take the chance to get out?
Disclaimer:
I do not own any of these characters except Teddy and a few other minor characters.
