Leighton: I never really noticed Braxton as anybody other than my cocky neighbor that I had awkward conversations with because our moms are best friends. We run in different circles, and I've been okay with that. It isn't until I come back from summer break looking like a new person that the atmosphere has changed and our dynamic is different. All of a sudden, he's spending every night at my place, and we're having deep and meaningful conversations, but our conversations aren't the only thing that go deep. I don't know what this feeling is, but I feel like I'm spending more time trying to convince myself it's nothing than actually trying to figure it out. Braxton: I've always noticed Leighton, but never dove in and took the chance because she's not the type of girl you have a good time with. She's the type of girl you spend the rest of your life with, and that's not what I'm looking for. I'm the star quarterback for our school and I have a bright future ahead of me, I also have a big secret. I know I can't be spending my time getting attached to a girl when I'm just going to be leaving at the end of the school year, but as soon as I see her and how much she's changed her appearance, I know that now I won't be the only person noticing her, and if I don't take that chance, somebody else will, and I won't let that happen. She's mine, even if she or anybody doesn't know it yet. I thought I had time to get my life together and come back for her, to prove to her that I'm the only guy she'll ever need, but I know now's the time for me to step up. Leighton thinks that her biggest issues are the different social circles that her and Braxton run in and that Braxton likes to mess around with a lot of different girls, but Braxton knows that if he doesn't step it up with her, Leighton will find somebody else who's definitely more deserving of her.

It was risky because if Isabell saw us at homecoming together she would be furious. I have been avoiding his question, it's been over a week since he asked me for homecoming but I've been hoping he would ask Isabell that question not me. I could always not show up and make Isabell take my place. I want Isabell happy and if this is the only way to see her happy then so be it. Even if it might break his heart. I nodded. "Yes, I'll go to homecoming with you, but you need to do what I told you to do." A smile grew on his face.
