Taylor Simien is elevens real brother, they were separated twins at birth, but not really. They were both added to the experiment.
Besides that, The summer of '84 Taylor keeps seeing this monster and reminding him of all the memories of the lab/experiment, reminding him how to use his powers with doing so.
After bumping into a girl he feels a connection to, he can't stop seeing her for the next few days resulting in their group noticing him stalking. He is dragged into everything.
this book carries through the months of June and July. The timeline is completely different.
