An unexpected journey of a Spear Guy and Yoshi across Yoshi's Island begins, following a perplexing kidnapping and malevolent plot putting the entire island at peril.
Hula, daughter of the Spear Guy tribe's Chief Pow, and Stormy, a Yoshi who left his former home, are best friends. They live in the jungle of Yoshi's Island and do everything together. But both have struggles they can't let go. Stormy is unsure of his place with the Spear Guys. And Hula, the only Spear Guy not fond of having to hide behind a mask, wonders what it would be like if it were different.
One day, a mysterious card with a red mask appears. Pow warns them of the Shy Bandit, the infamous Shy Guy thief with a mysterious past. It isn't long before strange things happen around the village, leading up to something shocking-- Hula's dad being kidnapped. As a sinister scheme unfolds before them, and the ground shakes with a threat never before seen, Hula and Stormy are thrust into a world beyond what they've always known. Not only of the island itself, but of the past that had long been hidden away. An entire island of secrets long held out of reach.
Why was Pow taken? What is the truth behind a special spear? And why is the Shy Bandit in relentless pursuit of Hula? Hula and Stormy must be brave for each other, and the world, before it is too late...
