In the shadows of legends, she stands. Dasha Barnes, the adopted daughter of Natasha Romanoff and Bucky Barnes, has grown up alongside the children of Earth's mightiest heroes. Unlike them, she has no superpowers, no advanced technology. But she possesses something uniquely her own-a cold resilience forged from a tragic past.

At the tender age of six, a devastating explosion robbed Dasha of the ability to feel, not only pain but the touch of a loved one or the breeze on her skin. This cruel twist of fate left her with a singular edge: the capacity to face danger with unflinching resolve. Her emotions, however, run deep and true, driving her to prove that even without powers, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Now, as her first mission approaches, Dasha must navigate the complexities of a world where her father's past as the Winter Soldier looms large. Whispers of Leo Novokov's escape send ripples of unease through the Avengers, threatening to upend the fragile peace within her family and cast a shadow over her impending mission.

Dasha's journey is fraught with challenges. She must confront the echoes of her father's dark history, manage the expectations of living among super-powered peers, and prove her worth on her own terms. As secrets unfold and alliances are tested, Dasha will discover were loyalties lay. 


This AU comprises moments from the comics, MCU, and my own preferences so things may not fit 100% to either one but that is just how I want it.

Though Zola can hardly speak English or understand what is happening to her, she builds relationships with her mother, whom she used to be denied of seeing. She gets closer to Clint, who she genuinely believed was her father. She didn't know any better. Thankfully, she was happy to lose the one relationship she never asked for. She'd longed for a father figure, but the relationships she had with everyone in the Red Room, especially the Winter soldier, were not that. As unfortunate as it was for Bucky, who wanted nothing more than to be a part of his daughter's life, he was forced to watch her grow up in someone else's care from a distance. They wiped him so often, he would hardly remember her, anyway. She can choose to stay alongside her mother, or, she can choose to fight beside her birth father, Bucky Barnes, AND the only father she has ever known, Clint Barton. Still, Zola is not aware of her relation to Bucky. But she is starting to sense that there's something her parents are hiding. She is slowly putting the pieces together and understanding who Bucky is. Through conflict, confusion, and difficulty, Zola tries to maintain relationships that have lasted throughout her life. She watches the love that she has grown up with begin to crumble and decay. She tries to revive these things that are most important to her. However, as she grows older in this country that seems so foreign, she better understands the emphasis of "Nothing Gold Can Stay." And when she keeps a promise she has made, and goes with her mother to destroy their demons of the red room, she finds out about a deeper meaning of family that has never had.
