Sheriff Hopper was your typical egotistical man-child with a badge. The kind of guy who thought the world revolved around him, but his brain was firmly stuck in the "perpetual adolescent" zone. And don't even get him started on the Brits-he was convinced they were all just pampered little sh- well, you know, a whole lot of nonsense wrapped in an accent.
Then there was Agent Beckett. Her one job? Get close to the Sheriff, dig up whatever weirdness was plaguing this town, and report back. Easy enough, right? I mean, how hard could it be to deal with a guy who still thinks "foreigners" are plotting world domination over their afternoon tea?
Spoiler alert: nothing ever goes according to plan.
Instead of digging up dirt on the town, Beckett finds herself knee-deep in Hopper's stubborn rants, unnecessary critiques of British weather, and the weird chemistry between them that neither of them wants to acknowledge. Oh, and somehow she ends up caring what happens to him.
Because of course, that's how it works-get close to the guy you're supposed to be investigating, and in a totally not predictable plot twist, fall head over heels. Because, apparently, nothing says "true love" like sarcastic banter, PTSD from small-town drama, and endless cups of diner coffee.
So, yeah. They'll fall in love. But it's definitely going to be a messy, snarky, "I can't believe this is happening" kind of love. Just the way Hopper would never admit he wanted it.
