Harriet O'Neill, 6th grade, all A's student is being forced to take after school choir by her mom in an attempt to make friends. The problem? Harriet can't even talk to people normally. Either she says the wrong thing, or she says nothing at all. As Harriet stumbles through her 6th grade year, (literally) as she attempts to make friends, keep grades up, and understand her confused feelings for a boy she is pretty sure is mute. She must break herself out of her shell... the second hardest thing compared to lying.

Adam Morton, 8th grade choir master, has had a very positive time in middle school, has good friends, and has lifelong dreams. The problem? Adam's father is forcing him to compete - again - in the annual Music Competition for the Youth. He has competed with his school choir in the past. Only this time, he must compete against his choir family. The most important people to him or face disappointment from his father.
