A century has passed, Mirkwood falls further into darkness as an old enemy returns.Tauriel and Legolas have grown apart and the feelings they held for each other are now dead, along with their friendship. Due to a fatal battle wound Tauriel's abilities faded leaving no remains. Only when coming face to face with a company on a journey to reclaim a homeland, a trigger is set off. Not long after she discovers just how important she has become to the dwarves and reclaiming their homeland, even if they do not know it.
However because of this a decision must be made....
Will she sacrifice her life to save Middle Earth and the ones she loves?

Being the middle sibling, Aearon knew her life would be full of struggles; she would not inherit the throne nor would she allow herself to be paraded around for others to admire. At a young age she decided she would give her life purpose by swearing an oath to protect the Falmari people, she would become a warrior and fight alongside her brother to protect her people from the threats of middle earth. A routine patrol escalated and Aearon soon found herself separated from her brother and the rest of the Teleri forces, pursuing a group of dark creatures that tormented her lands. While carrying out her duty, Aearon found herself at the mercy of the cold Prince of Mirkwood and King Thranduil himself. Finding herself locked in Thranduil's dungeon, the she-elf soon finds herself becoming friends with the most unlikely of creatures who steer her life on to a whole new path. Accompanying the group of dwarves to their home, Aearon finds herself battling both foe and feeling as she struggles to survive the dangers of middle earth. Will she allow herself to become compromised by her feelings or will she continue on her journey to prove herself. Either way, she will do whatever it takes to keep her word and help her friends while avoiding another stay in King Thranduil's dungeon, much to his displeasure. The relationship between Thranduil and Tauriel after the Battle of the 5 Armies. How Tauriel is dealing with the aftermath of the battle as she goes back to Mirkwood and realizes that she has always wanted Thranduil's love and affection in her life. It turns out there has been more behind their turbulent relationship than they let themselves believe. The story follows their relationship from the days and weeks after the battle to many years later, during the events from LOTR and after. I absolutely loved their chemistry in the Hobbit and this is my first fanfic. I tried to keep the characters as close to the movie versions as I could (since Tauriel only appears in the movies and Thranduil's personality is only vaguely presented in the books).
